IDENTITY OBJECTS

In this series, I played with the shadows of objects in my studio while continuing to use the frayed thread of the canvas glued to the surface then painted finely with a brush. The thread, the raw material of the canvas, exposed in its primary form, reveals the hidden, the interior, the essence.

In this play of shadows and intermediaries, I indirectly approach the materiality of objects and explore the notion of identification with their physicality. By distorting their real three-dimensional appearance, I present the object in its strangeness as a ghost. Our relationship to things in its identity dimension fascinates me, our obsession with naming things, appropriating them, reveals the extent to which they help define us. I wanted to explore one avenue.
